Update: VCC Breast Cancer Conference a Success

As noted earlier, the 11th annual Vermont Cancer Center’s Breast Cancer Conference was held last Friday, October 31st at the Sheraton in Burlington. Over 700 attendees, breast cancer patients, survivors and their families, viewed exhibits and participated in workshops and presentations. Dana Medical Library’s exhibit table was in good company with the Vermont Cancer Center and UVM/FAHC Hematology/Oncology Dept exhibits, and had many visitors. Conference goers and organizers alike commented about the wealth of medical library resources and services that were on display.

Nancy Bianchi, Associate Library Professor at the Dana Medical Library, also presented “Treasures in the Breast Cancer Literature for Patients, Survivors and Their Families” to a full audience. Her presentation focused on the breast cancer information portal on MedlinePlus, a free database from the National Library of Medicine, as well as the rich collection of breast cancer books available in the Consumer Health Collection at UVM’s Dana Medical Library.

Congratulations to all who participated in this year’s successful Breast Cancer Conference!
