The Dana Medical Library now offers access to ComDisDome, a communication disorders database on the CSA Illumnia platform for a one-year trial period beginning July 2010. After a year trial the Library will assess whether to continue the subscription. Focusing on the literature of speech-language pathology and audiology, ComDisDome helps faculty, students, and clinicians in the communication sciences keep up with the latest research findings, improve patient communication and education, write research reports and grants, and identify and communicate with prominent researchers in the field.
Designed specifically for speech-language pathology and audiology, ComDisDome retrieves more results and with better precision than larger, more general databases. It features a powerful thesaurus (located under the Search Tools tab) with over 5600 topics to help you find the best terms to expand or narrow your search. ComDisDome provides citations and abstracts, plus links for obtaining full-text articles through UVM’s electronic journal subscriptions.
Look for the link to ComDisDome on our homepage under Articles & Databases. Click on ComDisDome and switch to the Advanced Search tab. We invite feedback and comments from clinicians, faculty and students about this exciting new resource. Just click on the Comments link at the bottom of the Search the Literature column.
